PAJCCI delegation visited Dushanbe, Tajikistan - June 21 - 25, 2014


Hi-level PAJCCI delegation visted Dushanbe, Tajikistan to attend USAID / ATAR B2B Project under leadership of Muhammad Zubair Motiwala - June 21, 2014

In order to pursue its objectives to facilitate regional integration and rejuvenate links with CIS countries, PAJCCI took an initiative to visit Dushanbe, Tajikistan to attend Business to Business meetings conducted by USAID/Afghanistan Trade Revenue Project (ATAR). The delegation comprised of businesses from across the Pakistan and is led by Mr. Zubair Motiwala, Co-President PAJCCI. 

The objective of this visit was to support increase of trade turnover of Central and South Asia through direct private sector engagement. During the meetings entrepreneurs from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan met and learned about potential business opportunities in each country. The products which are the main focus of this event were food processing, construction materials, and textiles. This business to business meeting introduced Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan exporters and importers and facilitate business negotiations between them. It also presents the investment opportunities at Free Economic Zones in Tajikistan and supported deal signing amongst the business people participated in the event. During the meetings, regional trade and transit issues were discussed and a sustainable mechanism for long-term cooperation among Chambers in the region to include the formation of Joint Business Council was also deliberated. In order to further engage the participants visited production facilities and markets in Dushanbe.

Pakistan was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Tajikistan soon after its independence in 1991. Bilateral ties between the two countries are based on mutual respect, shared interests, and a common desire to promote peace, stability and development in the region and beyond
